WOW! What a Sweep! Giants Crush Rockies!

After winning the first two games in the series, 4-2 and 9-6, the question was; Will Giants sweep Colorado? Well…They did it! What a beautiful day it was in the Bay Area to play baseball and the Giants played excellent with Barry Zito delivering an outstanding performance!

The Giants began the party early. They scored two runs in the first inning. Angel Pagan singled on a ground ball to shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Marco Scutaro was called out on strikes. Buster Posey came up to bat and he tripled (1) on a line drive ro right fielder Michael Cuddyer, scoring Pagan. Hunter Pence struck out swinging, catcher Wilin Rosario completed the out with at throw to first baseman Jordan Pacheco. Then, Joaquin Arias singled on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez. Buster Posey scored. Brandon Belt joined to the party. He singled on a line drive to center fielder Eric Young. Joaquin Arias advanced to second. Pitcher Jeff Francis got out of the jam with an Andres Torres grounded into a force out, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to second baseman Josh Rutledge. Brandon Belt was out at second.

The Giants continued attacking Jeff Francis in the second.  Brandon Belt led off with a double (3) on a line drive to right fielder Michael Cuddyer.  Barry Zito laid down a sacrifice bunt. Crawford advanced to third and Zito to first. Angel Pagan walked loading the bases. Marco Scutaro came up to bat and he was out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Michael Cuddyer. Crawford scored and Zito advanced to third. With runners on corners, Buster Posey hit a ground-rule double (2) on a fly ball to right-center field. Barry Zito scored and Angel Pagan advanced to third. Hunter Pence reached on a fielder’s choice and throwing error by third baseman Chris Nelson, scoring Pagan. Posey advanced to third and Pence to second. Pitcher Jeff Francis intentionally walked Joaquin Arias. With bases loaded, Brandon Bell popped out to third baseman Chris Nelson in foul territory. Andres Torres came up to bat and he singled on a line drive to right fielder Michael Cuddyer, bringing in two runs. Posey and Pence scored and Arias advanced to third. And it was over for Jeff Francis. Reliever Edgmer Escalona replaced to Francis. He dominated Brandon Belt with a fly out to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez. So, after only two innings, Giants led 7-0!

In the third, Colorado gave their first hit: With two outs, Eric young (2) doubled on a line drive to center fielder Angel Pagan. Young advanced to third when Zito throw a wild pitch while Josh Rutledge was batting. Finally, Rutledge popped out to second baseman Marco Scutaro.

In the fifth, San Francisco added two more runs. Pitcher Chris Volstad replaced Edgmer Escalona. Andres Torres led off with a double (2) on a fly ball to center fielder Eric Young. Brandon Crawford grounded out, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to first baseman Jordan Pacheco.  Andres Torres advanced to third.  Barry Zito came up to bat and he singled on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez, scoring Andres Torres. Angel Pagan grounded out softly, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to first baseman Jordan Pacheco. Barry Zito advanced to second.  Then, Marco Scutaro singled on a soft line drive to right fielder Michael Cuddyer. Barry Zito advanced to third. With two runners on bases, Buster Posey singled on a sharp line drive to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez.  Barry Zito scored. Scutaro advanced to second. Finally, Chris Volstad got out of the jam with a Hunter Pence striking out swinging.

In the sixth, the Giants scored their last run. Brandon Belt doubled (2) on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez. Andres Torres singled on a line drive to center fielder Eric Young. Belt advanced to third. Brandon Crawford popped into a force out, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to second baseman Josh Rutledge. Brandon Belt scored. Andres Torres was out at second. Barry Zito singled on a ground ball to left fielder Carlos Gonzalez. Brandon Crawford advanced to second.  Pinch-hitter Gregor Blanco replaced Angel Pagan.  Pitcher Adam Ottavino replaced Chris Volstad. Finally, pitcher Ottavino got out of the jam with a Gregor Blanco striking out swinging.

Javier Lopez replaced Barry Zito in the eight.  He struck out one and no walked in 1.0 inning. His ERA is 3.38.

Chad Gaudin replaced Javier Lopez in the ninth. He struck out one and no walked in 1.0 inning. His ERA is 0.00.

Barry Zito (2-0, 0.00 ERA) pitched an outstanding game again. He struck out four and walked one in seven innings Wednesday afternoon, no allowing runs and seven hits (a double). He also threw a wild pitch.

The Giants extended their winning streak against the Rockies to nine games (pretty cool!). They improved their record to six wins, three losses in this season. The Colorado Rockies fell to 5 wins, 4 losses. I will be honest: I could not stop laughing every time the Giants scored runs. It’s was weird!

The Giants will play tomorrow Thursday the 11th @Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois @11:20 AM (Pacific Time). Ryan Vogelsong (0-1, 8.44 ERA) will start for San Francisco Giants and Scott Feldman (0-1, 7.71 ERA) will start for Chicago Cubs. This is first of a four-game series.
