What a Sweep! Brewers Destroyed Giants!

It is not easy to watch your team lose, yet it is more difficult to see them get swept! The Brewers attacked Matt Cain early with seven runs in the first three innings. The final score was, Milwaukee 7, Giants 2.

The Brewers put a couple of runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Jean Segura singled on a sharp line drive to right fielder Hunter Pence. Ryan Braun homered (3) on a fly ball to left center field, bringing in two runs. Segura and Braun scored.

The second inning was worse! The Brewers scored three more runs. Carlos Gomez was hit by pitch. Gomez stole (1) second base while Yuniesky Betancourt was batting. Then, Yuniesky Betancourt singled on a ground ball to left fielder Gregor Blanco, scoring Carlos Gomez. Pitcher Yovani Gallardo came up to bat and he homered (1) on a fly ball to left center field bringing in two more runs! What a surprise! Betancourt and Gallardo scored. Finally, Matt Cain dominated Norichika Aoki and Jean Segura. So, it was, Brewers 5, Giants 0.

That was not the end of it for the Brewers! In the bottom of the third, they added two more runs. Rickie Weeks singled on a sharp line drive to left fielder Gregor Blanco. Rickie Weeks stole (2) second base while Jonathan Lucroy was batting. Lucroy homered (2) on a fly ball to left field. Weeks and Lucroy scored. The board was, Brewers 7, Giants 0.

In the top of the fourth, the Giants scored one run against pitcher Yovani Gallardo. Brandon Crawford led off with a double (4) on a line drive to center fielder Carlos Gomez. Nick Noonan lined out to center fielder Carlos Gomez. Crawford advanced to third. Brandon Belt came up to bat and he was out on a sacrifice fly center fielder Carlos Gomez, scoring Crawford. Yovani Gallardo controlled Hector Sanchez and the inning was over!

The San Francisco Giants scored one more in the ninth. Pitcher Alfredo Figaro replaced John Axford. Brandon Crawford led off with a solo homer (3) on a line drive to right field.

Matt Cain (0-2, 7.15 ERA) allowed seven runs, all earned on seven hits (three home runs) in six innings. He also did not walk any, struck out four and he hit one batter. The San Francisco Giants relievers to also take the mound were, Javier Lopez and Jean Machi.

The Giants will play tomorrow night Friday the 19th, returning home. They will start series against San Diego Padres. The game is scheduled to begin@7:15 PM (Pacific Time)@AT&T Park, San Francisco, California. Madison Bumgarner (3-0, 1.77 ERA) will start for San Francisco and Edinson Volquez (0-3, 11.68 ERA) will start for San Diego. The Giants need to recover terrain after of being sweep!
